DHAKA, Dec 15, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today placed four members of banned
organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on a two-day remand each in an
anti-terrorism act case filed with the capital's Kalabagan Police Station.
The four remanded accused are former president of BCL's Dhaka University
Shamsunnahar Hall unit Nishita Iqbal Nodi, former joint general secretary of
Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall Al Fatara Kazol, former BCL activists Shovon
Rahman and Hasan Imam Shovon.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police
produced the four before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day
remand each.
According to the case documents, leaders and activists of the banned BCL
brought out a sudden procession in the capital's Kalabagan area around 6am on
December 13.
They chanted different anti-government slogans at the time. Police said the
arrested were plotting to embarrass the government through different illegal
activities.
Detective branch of police on the night of December 14 arrested the four from
the capital's Bashundhara Residential Area.
