All set to observe Victory Day in Khulna tomorrow

KHULNA, Dec 15, 2024 (BSS) - All preparations have already been completed to celebrate Victory Day in Khulna with a vow to establish a non-communal, prosperous, and developed Bangladesh with the spirit of the Liberation War as well as the July-August uprising.

Khulna district administration has taken up elaborate programs to observe the day.

The programs will begin with the heralding of a 31-gun salute at dawn at the Khulna Police Lines in the Boyra area.

On the occasion, national flags will be hoisted atop all public and private buildings at dawn, and wreaths will be placed at the Gallyamary Monument by the people of all walks of life.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar will hoist the national flag at Khulna Zilla Stadium and will take salute from the parade around 8:30 am.

All educational institutions will also organize various programs marking the day.

A discussion and prize distribution ceremony among the winners of the art and essay competition will be held in the morning while a day-long 'Bijoy Mela' (Victory Fair) will also be held at Khulna District Stadium.

Different political, social, and cultural organizations, including BNP, Jamaat, and Bangladesh Shishu Academy, will organize Liberation War-based discussions, cultural events, and drawing, essay, and sports competitions for children and display Liberation War-related documentaries.

Receptions will be hosted for freedom fighters and family members of martyrs at the district Shilpakala Academy.

Special prayers will be offered at mosques and other places of worship, seeking eternal peace for the souls of martyrs of the Liberation War and peace, progress, and prosperity for the country.

Improved diets will be served in jails, hospitals, orphanages, old-age homes, and other similar institutions across the country.

All children's parks and museums will be kept open for all without tickets, and Liberation War-based films will be screened in the cinema halls free of cost in the city.

Similar programs will be taken at district and upazila levels in Khulna.
