DHAKA, Dec 19, 2024 (BSS) – A court here today placed Bangladesh Handicrafts Manufacturers and Exporters Association-BANGLACRAFT President Selim Uddin Haider (72) on one-day remand in a case filed over attack on a procession brought out in the city on August 4 during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter passed the order as police produced Haider before the court and pleaded to place him on a 7-day remand.
Haider was arrested from the city’s Panthapath area on Wednesday night in a case filed over an attack on a procession brought out in the city on August 4 during the anti-discrimination student movement.
General Secretary of 16 no Ward BNP Kazi Iyad Moinuddin filed the attempt to murder case against Selim Haider with Kalabagan Police Station on November 7. He accused 161 people including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the case.
According to the case statement, Kazi Iyad Moinuddin was leading a procession in front of Green Life Hospital in the city’s Green Road area on August 4 during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Around 12.10pm, leaders and activists of Awami League and its associated bodies attacked the procession while the plaintiff himself and three others sustained bullet injuries on head, legs, and hands.
