DHAKA, Dec 21, 2024 (BSS) - Former food secretary Ismail Hossain was taken on a two-day police remand from the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court here today.

The Immigration Police detained him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 10pm last night while he was trying to fly for the United States of America (USA). He was later handed over to the Biman Bandar Thana Police and police arrested him under section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

The former secretary was produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Court of GM Farhan Ishtiaq with a prayer for granting seven days remand. The lawyer of the arrested opposed the remand prayer and moved for granting bail. The court after hearing both the sides, granted his two-day remand rejecting the bail petition.
