SAVAR, Dec 21, 2024 (BSS)- Ashulia Police today arrested 13 persons for their alleged involvement in an attack on on-duty policemen at Sonamiah market at Narosinghpur area under Yarpur union parishad.

Police said, a four-member team of Ashulia Police led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Rabiul Islam came under attack at the market area as they went there to arrest one Rajon Bhuiyan, an accused of a case filed in connection with a murder during the students-mass movement in July this year.

Police arrested Rakib Bhuiyan, brother of Rajon Bhuiyan, when he was playing badminton. Hearing the news, Rajon Bhuiyan and his brother-in-law Kalam Matbor and some others attacked on the police personnel, leaving SI Rabiul and his colleagues injured. 

Local people, later rescued SI Rabiul and taken to Dhamrai thana health complex. 

Police arrested 13 persons from the area for their alleged involvement in the attack on police.

Police has filed a case with Ashulia thana in this connection and sent the arrested persons to the court.
