If BNP goes to power, people’s voting rights will be ensured: Fakhrul

PANCHAGARH, Dec 22, 2024 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said if BNP goes to power, it will ensure people’s voting rights.

“No one has been able to exercise their voting rights in the past 15 years. If people’s voting right is ensured, they be able to elect the right persons who will represent them in parliament and good for their well being,” he told a public rally at the Sakowa High School ground in Boda upazila in the district.

BNP’s Boda and Debiganj Upazila and Panchagarh Municipality units organized the rally with BNP Central Rural Development Affairs Secretary and Panchagarh District BNP Member Secretary Farhad Hossain Azad in the chair.

BNP chairperson's adviser and renowned singer Baby Nazneen, former minister and BNP Rangpur Division Organizing Secretary Principal Asadul Habib Dulu, BNP leader and Dhaka South City Corporation mayoral candidate Engineer Ishraq Hossain, Rangpur Division Assistant Organizing Secretary Abdul Malek, BNP Central International Affairs Secretary Barrister Nawshad Zamir, Panchagarh District BNP Convener Zahirul Haque Kachchu spoke as special guests at the rally.

Mirza Fakhrul said BNP wants reforms so that in 2016, party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia declared Vision 2030.

Then, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman announced a 31-point outline for repairing state structure two years ago in 2022, he said.

“But the common people do not understand reforms. They want to exercise their voting rights and they want that country’s peace and essential commodities at reasonable price. People want that there would be no theft and robbery in the country,” he said.

The BNP secretary general urged the people to refrain from doing any bribe to anyone. If anyone seeks bribes, give them to the police, he said.

Noting about police’s involvement in corruption and taking bribery, he said if BNP goes to power, police will be turned into people's police.

“Our leader Tarique Rahman is showing everyone the dream of building that Bangladesh. We have to dream. I want to thank our students and our brothers who have fought for 15 years. They have created opportunities for us again by shedding their blood. We will build the country through democratic ways” he said.

Thousands of leaders and workers of BNP and its affiliated organizations joined the rally.
