DHAKA, Dec 23, 2024(BSS)-The Dhaka Metropolitan Judge Court today ordered to freeze a total of 35 bank accounts of former lawmaker from Chuadanga-1 constituency Solaiman Haque Joardar Saloon, his wife Aktari Joardar and daughter Tabshina Jannat.
Acting Judge of the court Md Ibrahim Miah today passed the order following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Of the accounts- 17 belong to Solaiman Haque Joardar Saloon, 13 belong to Aktari Joardar and five accounts against the name of Tabshina Jannat.
Md Mahmudul Hassan, assistant director of the ACC submitted the petition to the court where ACC public prosecutor Advocate Mir Ahmmed Ali Salam moved for the petitioner. The court after hearing the argument of the prosecutor passed the order.
The ACC in its petition urged the court to freeze these 35 accounts with different banks alleging that the former lawmaker has acquired huge money and properties by using illegal power and through corruptions in his own name and the family members.
The ACC during its investigation came to know that the account holders may handover, transfer and divert the money deposited to these savings, current and fixed accounts to other accounts. If they can transfer the money it would be very difficult to recover it, the ACC petition added.
The ACC prayed for freezing these accounts under section 14 of the Money Laundering Prevention Act-2012.
