DHAKA, Dec 23, 2024 (BSS) - Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan today visited the ‘Winter President Parade of Midshipman 2022A Batch and Direct Entry Officer 2024B Batch’ at Bangladesh Naval Academy here.
The Navy chief also inspected the parade and took salute as the chief guest at the ceremony, said a release of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) this evening.
A total of 42 new officers, including 34 midshipmen of 2022A batch and eight direct entry officers of 2024B batch of Bangladesh Navy received commission through the ceremony. Of the commissioned officers, there are seven women Navy officers also.
During the parade, the Navy chief presented medals to the meritorious trainees who achieved the highest standards in various subjects.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, the Navy chief asked the new officers to properly perform their duties in the path of national security and progress by using the training expertise in their respective career in the days to come, the release said.
He directed the new officers, being imbued with self-dedication in serving the country, to acquire professional excellence and skills in modern technology to face increased challenges.
The Navy chief congratulated the new officers and their parents for choosing this sacred duty to serve the country as a profession.
During his address to the newly commissioned officers, he paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifice of all the fearless valiant freedom fighters and naval commandos who participated in the Great War of Independence.
The Navy chief also paid due respect to the martyrs who embraced martyrdom during the Anti-Discrimination Students-People Movement in July-August, this year, the ISPR added.
Senior officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force, local dignitaries and the parents of the newly commissioned officers witnessed the parade.
