Workshop on improving quality of primary education held 

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2024 (BSS) - A day-long workshop titled 'Draft Findings on Feasibility Study for the Pre-Service Teacher Education for Primary Teachers' was held today at Education and Research Institute of Dhaka University (DU).

DU Education and Research Institute and Directorate of Primary Education jointly organised the workshop, said a press release here.

DU Pro Vice Chancellor (education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest with Education and Research Institute acting director Professor Hosne Ara Begum in the chair.

National Academy for Primary Education director general Farid Ahmed and chief of research team Professor Dr SM Hafizur Rahman spoke at the workshop as special guests.

Terming primary education as the backbone of education system, Pro VC Dr Mamun Ahmed hoped that this type of workshop will play a significant role in adopting and implementing various education-related schemes. He emphasized on further strengthening education-related research to move society and the country forward.

A total of 40 officials from various educational institutions, including the Primary Teacher Training Institute, participated in the workshop. 

Research and workshops will be organized on eight topics in phases. 

DU Education and Research Institute and the Directorate of Primary Education are implementing the programme with funding from the World Bank.
