DHAKA, Dec 24, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today urged the interim government to announce national election within logical time.
“We want that the interim government will hold a free, fair, neutral, participatory and successful election within logical time,” he told a national seminar organized by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Nagorik Andolon at Jatiya Press Club .
Co-chairman of the organization Rear Admiral (retd) Mostafizur Rahman presided over the seminar while its secretary general Col. (Retd) S M Faisal, vice-chairman Md. Nurul Islam, Justice Abdus Salam Mamun, Justice Faysal Mahmud Fayzi, Prof Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam and writ petitioner of quota reform Mohammad Abdul Wadud, among others, spoke at the event.
Gayeshwar said BNP will wage movement if the country’s independence and sovereignty face a threat.
He said election should be held at the earliest as the people want to see an elected government.
The BNP leader said the people didn’t have any freedom of expression in 16 years due to fascist rule of Awami League government.
He said Awami League and their allies are still hatching conspiracy against the interim government.
Gayeshwar urged all to remain alert against any kind of conspiracy to protect country’s independence.
He underscored the need for forging national unity to protect country’s independence.
Later, he unveiled a book on Bangladeshi Jatiyatabad O Rajniti (Bangladeshi Nationalism and Politics) .
