Youth will be drivers of future Bangladesh: Jamaat Ameer

RANGPUR, Dec 24, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said the youth will be the drivers of the future Bangladesh, InshaAllah and the elders should not be upset.

“We want to hand over the future of Bangladesh to our youth. If our children run the country well, we elders will be the happiest. You elders will also be happy,” he said.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman said this while addressing as the chief guest a public rally, organized by Mithapukur upazila Jamaat-e-Islami at Mithapukur College ground in the district this afternoon.

Claiming that Awami League has used the judiciary as it wished, the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said, they (Awami League) have practiced politics while sitting in the judicial seat.

“Kala Manik (Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik) also shouted at Sayeedi Saheb. In the end, he himself was caught while trying to flee to India. We have no sister house, no maternal uncle house. We have no need to flee,” he said.

“Awami League had become the owner of the country and considered the people of the country, including all of us, as tenants, which are why it laid hands on Jamaat after the heinous murder of Hefazat-e-Islam and the killing of 57 army officers.

Their murders, disappearances, rapes had crossed the line, he added.

The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said Awami League had started enforced disappearances and murders by creating ‘mirror rooms’ because it could not tolerate patriotic citizens.

Awami League had not learned to respect any person, he said, adding that they had also kept an elderly person like Khaleda Zia in jail.

He said, “Shaheed Abu Sayeed was shot. Every drop of his blood speaks. Then the youth took to the streets, saying, ‘There is a lot of storm in my heart, I am feeling pain, shoot me,’ and millions of young men and women took to the streets in his footsteps.”

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, in 15 years, Awami League had embezzled Taka 26 lakh crores, which is about five times the annual budget of Bangladesh.

“We want a country where there will be no discrimination, there will be no corruption, no tender manipulation. Every person in this society will respect everyone. In a country where my mothers will work with dignity and security in the workplace,” he said.

Calling for an end to the minority-majority game in the country, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman promised to give equal rights to all the people of the country.

“Awami League has done the most harm against minorities for 53 years. I want to say with trust in Allah, no matter how many conspiracies there are, Jamaat-e-Islami will first cooperate with minorities,” he said.

With Mithapukur Upazila Jamaat Ameer Asaduzzaman Shimul in the chair, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb Ameer Maulana Abdullah Halim, Central Working Committee Member Mahbubur Rahman Belal, Rangpur District Jamaat Ameer Professor Golam Rabbani, Rangpur Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer ATM Azam Khan, District Secretary Maulana Md.
