RANGPUR, Dec 25, 2024 (BSS) - LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain today said defeated forces in July revolution continue waging widespread propaganda against Bangladesh and its people after the fall of the fascist regime.
He came up with the remark at a function held at Atwari Model Pilot High School ground in Atwari upazila of Panchagarh district as the chief guest.
Asif Mahmud, also Youth and Sports adviser, distributed 2,000 pieces of winter clothes among the cold-stricken people and cheques of financial assistance to the families of five martyrs killed in the anti-discrimination student movement and exchanged views.
Atwari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shafiul Majlubin Rahman presided over the programme.
General Secretary of the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation and one of the Coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement Md Sarjis Alam, its Panchagarh Coordinator Fazle Rabbi, Convener of Atwari Upazila BNP AJM Bazlar Rahman and Ameer of Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Yunus Ali Khan spoke.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Panchagarh Md Abdul Quader, Additional Superintendent of Police Kanak Kumar Das, officials of various government organizations of the district and upazila and locals were present.
Asif Mahmud said the main goal of the interim government is to implement the aspirations of the people.
"The people want national elections after real reforms. The interim government is working to implement that goal," he said.
"The previous fascist regime destroyed every institution in Bangladesh. It destroyed various social institutions starting from the financial system. We want to reform all institutions," he said.
Noting that Northbengal was deprived of during the previous fascist regime, Asif Mahmud said from now on, the region will not be neglected in any way.
He said allocation will increase in Northbengal to eliminate discrimination and for local development.
The adviser said that the conspiracy of fascists is going on and they will be tried on the soil of this country.
He called on everyone and all political parties to confront the conspiracy unitedly and always support and cooperate with the interim government to quickly implement the will of the people.
Addressing the event, Sarjis Alam said it is alleged that service is still not being done in various offices at the district and upazila levels, including land offices, police and public representatives, unless money is paid.
"You have to be corrected first. If any such complaints are still received, then complain to us with evidence. We will request the authorities to take appropriate action," he said.
Later, Asif Mahmud joined a similar programme organized at Tentulia Pilot School ground in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh in the afternoon.
Earlier in the morning, he distributed winter clothes among the cold-stricken people and exchanged views in a similar programme at Baliadangi upazila parishad hall room in Thakurgaon district.
