Dhaka, Dec 26, 2024(BSS) - The Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) today honored three of its members with the inaugural "DCAB Media Award" in recognition of professional excellence and contributions to foreign affairs reporting.
The awards were presented by Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin at a ceremony held at the Foreign Service Academy.
Speaking at the event, the Foreign Secretary lauded DCAB's initiative and expressed hope that such recognition would continue to inspire diplomatic correspondents in the future.
The award recipients were Mizanur Rahman, Special Correspondent of Daily Manabzamin, in the print category; Md Mashrequl Islam (Mashreq Rahat), Senior Reporter of Maasranga TV, in the television category; and Md Nazrul Islam, Diplomatic Correspondent of Dhaka Post, in the online category.
DCAB President Nurul Islam Hasib and General Secretary Ashiqur Rahman Apu, along with Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Rafiqul Alam, also addressed the gathering.
The jury for the award comprised Reaz Ahmed, Executive Editor of Dhaka Tribune; Dr. Md Saiful Alam Chowdhury, Associate Professor at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Dhaka University; and journalist Miraj Ahmed Chowdhury, Managing Director of Digitally Right.
The panel evaluated the submissions based on several criteria, including the context, novelty, and significance of the topic, use of information and sources, language and presentation style, reasoning and structure, and original research conducted by the reporters.
