KHULNA, Dec 26, 2024 (BSS) - Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today said Bangladesh is the country of a unique example of communal harmony, as people of all faiths are living here amid peace and safety.

"There are fewer countries in the world that are non-communal like Bangladesh," Dr. Shafiqur said.

Blaming the previous regime that ruled the country for over 15 years, he said they adorned themselves according to their wish instead of embellishing the country properly.

Jamaat Ameer came up with the observation while addressing a rally at the Atharomile intersection under Dumuria upazila here as the chief guest.

A huge amount of money earned by people was smuggled out of the country by the cohorts of the previous government led by Sheikh Hasina.

Referring to their (Awami League and its alliance) scores of misdeeds, the Jamaat leader said the party of the ousted government, Awami League, does not have the right to do politics in the country.

"Stakeholders of the previous autocratic government had fled the country, but they are still hatching conspiracies to destabilize the country," he added.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by Secretary General Prof. Mian Golam Parwar, Organizing Secretary Muhaddis Abdul Khaleque, and Mawlana Abul Kalam Azad.
