DHAKA, Dec 26, 2024 (BSS) - One hectare of encroached forestland worth around Taka 1.23 crore was recovered in a joint operation in Hatubhanga Beat under Mirzapur Upazila in Tangail today.
District administration led the operation with support from the army, forest department, and police, said a press release of the environment, forest and climate change ministry.
During the operation, seven illegal structures and 2 unauthorized sawmills were dismantled. It said similar operations will continue to protect forestland and biodiversity.
Besides, Department of Environment shut down two illegal lead factories and confiscated their equipment in an operation conducted today in Charigram, Ashulia and Savar areas.
On the same day, a separate operation was conducted at Messrs. Ripon Bricks in Sadullapur, Savar fining Taka 5 lakh .
A mobile court was conducted in Mohammadpur area against air pollution and cases were filed against two entities for storing construction materials in open places fining total Taka 15,000.
