DHAKA, Dec 26, 2024 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said fire broke out at the Secretariat after important government documents regarding deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her allies were sought.
“We are worried about various incidents taking place around us. This fear is not personal, it is about the state. We have seen in the past that whenever there is public protest against a secretary or minister, the documents of the secretariat disappear, and fire breaks out there,” he said.
Rizvi was addressing a discussion organized by Rajshahi University Nationalist Ex-Student Association (RUNESA) commemorating “Bloodstained Motihar and Rizvi Ahmed on December 22, 1984.”
Mentioning that a high-powered investigation should be conducted in this regard, the BNP leader said the secretariat caught fire because some documents of Sheikh Hasina and her allies were demanded.
Burning of important documents in the devastating fire made people worried as many questions have arisen in the minds of the public, he mentioned.
He questioned how India shelters Sheikh Hasina after knowing and understanding everything.
“India is systematically spreading propaganda about Bangladesh. It has tried to implement issues related to India’s interests in Bangladesh through Sheikh Hasina. After Sheikh Hasina fled, all excepting India recognized Bangladesh in the changed situation,” he said.
BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Habibur Rahman Habib, among others, also spoke in the discussion.
