DHAKA, Dec 26, 2024 (BSS) - Additional Police Commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Masud Karim today said that they would never be lenient towards the criminals.
"People should cooperate with the police by providing information about criminals and we will never be merciful towards them (criminals)," he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by the police, students and respected citizens of the Gendaria Police Station area at the Zahir Raihan Cultural Center in Gendaria this afternoon.
Masud Karim said that there is a need for maintaining the law and order to build a non-discriminatory state.
"With your cooperation, the police have turned around again. I hope that the way you have supported the force in carrying out their professional duties will continue in the future," he said.
The Additional Commissioner said that the people have high expectations from the police.
"To fulfil that expectation, the police and the public will work with mutual cooperation," he said.
He pledged to continue the ongoing drives against drugs, extortion and terrorism.
"You will cooperate with us by providing information about these criminals. Then we will be able to take legal action against them," he said.
In his welcome speech, Wari Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Saleh Uddin said that they need to increase our involvement with the public.
"We will no longer policing with any weapons. We want to contain crimes with the help of the common people," he said.
Police officers of various ranks of Wari Division, leaders of various political, social, professional, religious organizations, heads of educational institutions and leaders of student movements were present.
