ACC to probe RAJUK plot allocation allegations involving Sheikh Hasina, family

DHAKA, Dec 26, 2024 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission has decided to conduct Investigation into the allegations of corruption in allocating plots in RAJUK's Purbachal New Town project in the names of six members of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's family.

The five others are — Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed, daughter Sayma Wazed Putul, Hasina’s sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Redwan Mujib Siddique Bobby and daughter Azmina Siddique.

“There are allegations that Sheikh Hasina, through abusing power in collaboration with senior officials of RAJUK, allocated six plots under political considerations for her family members,” ACC director general Aktar Hossain told journalists here today.

The allocations include six plots, each measuring 10 kathas (a total of 60 kathas), in the diplomatic zone of Sector 27 in the Purbachal New Town project, specifically from Road No. 2003.

Earlier, the High Court had formed a three-member committee to investigate irregularities in the allocation of the 60 kathas in plots.

The committee, headed by former High Court judge Miftah Uddin Choudhury, was instructed to submit its report within four months.
