Bangladesh missions aboard observe Sheikh Russel Day

 DHAKA, Oct 18, 2021 (BSS) - The first ever 'Sheikh Russel Day' was observed at Bangladesh missions abroad in a befitting manner today marking the 58th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's youngest son Shaheed Sheikh Russel.

  Marking the day, Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi organised various programs including sapling plantation, holding discussion, arranging painting and drawing completion for children and offering prayers.

  A total of 100 saplings were planted on the high commission premises by commission officials led by High Commissioner Mohammad Imran.

   Deputy High Commissioner Md Nural Islam read out the message from President Md Abdul Hamid, while the message from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was read out by Assistant Defence Adviser, Lt. Col. Md. Kamrul Hasan.

  Minister (Consular) Selim Md Jahangir, officials of high commission and local Bangladeshi citizen took part.

  Bangladesh Embassy in Vietnam observed the day with various programs which include placing floral wreaths at Sheikh Russel's portrait, holding memorial discussion, documentary exhibition, offering special prayers, and arranging art camp for children and street children.

  Bangladesh's ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz inaugurated the day-long programmes while Sheikh Russel's school friend Md Ehsanul Haque addressed the memorial discussion as the special guest.

  Officials of high commission, media personnel and Bangladeshi citizen living in Vietnam took part in the programmes.

  Besides, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai observed the day with different programmes including placing wreath at Sheikh Russel's portrait, holding discussion, documentary exhibition, drawing competition and offering prayers.

  Deputy High Commissioner Md Lutfar Rahman inaugurated the day-long programmes while officials of commission and their family members, local citizen and migrants Bangladeshi took part.
