DHAKA, Dec 27, 2024 (BSS) – Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar today expressed his opinion in favor of organizing a public dialogue on all reform proposals.
The leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami came up with his opinion while addressing the first session of the two-day national dialogue organized by the Forum for Bangladesh Studies at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in the city's Khamarbari area.
He said, "On the question of reform, dialogue, national consensus, the reform commissions, formed by the government, have sought advice from political parties."
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General said that all parties are providing their proposals in this regard.
Expressing his hope that the reform proposals may come by December next, he said the interim government led by Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus should shortlist those proposals and arrange another public dialogue on those issues which are common in the proposals of all political parties and stakeholders in the interest of creating a national unity.
Parwar said, "Reform is a lengthy process. All the organs of the state have been politicized and corrupted. It is not possible for the interim government to reform everything. It will take time."
He said all parties should give a chance to the government to make minimum required reforms for holding a free, impartial, transparent and acceptable election.
Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to provide logical time to the interim government to this end, he added.
Human rights activist Dr Zahed Ur Rahman moderated the first session of the dialogue while Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Chair of the White Paper Preparation Committee Debapriya Bhattacharya, Head of Constitutional Reform Commission Prof Ali Riaz, Electoral System Reform Commission Chief Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Zonayed Saki, Chief Co-ordinator of Ganosanhati Andolan Zonayed Saki, Gono Forum Member Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Vice President Tania Rob, Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, President of Bangla Academy Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq and political leaders spoke, among others, on the occasion.
