Police working tirelessly for a safe city: DMP

DHAKA, Dec 28, 2024 (BSS) - Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today said they have been working tirelessly to improve law and order and build a safe city.

“We have been relentlessly working to build a safe society,” he said in a view-exchange meeting as the chief guest at a local community centre of Rupnagar police station today.

He called upon the city dwellers to provide information and cooperation for building a safe and secured society.

“As good citizens, we must have a sense of responsibility towards the state.   We have to fulfil this responsibility for our families, society and the state. You want a people-friendly police, we also want police-friendly people,” he stated.

The additional commissioner requested all concerned to extend cooperation by providing information on drug, extortion and encroachment.

"You just provide us with information. We will take necessary legal action against them. If any police member is involved in crimes, give us this information too, they will not be spared,” he said.

He mentioned that the police force is less than the number of police required in proportion to the population.

“We have to work with the limited police force. If the people and the police work together, Dhaka will become a safe city," he said.

Mirpur Division Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Maksuder Rahman presided over the meeting. Mirpur Division officials of various ranks, leaders of various political, social, professional, religious organizations, heads of educational institutions and leaders of student movements were present.
