DHAKA, Dec 28, 2024 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today laid special emphasis on youth leadership for sustainable and nature-centric development.
Development model must shift to prioritize nature conservation, she said, adding that changes in lifestyle are essential, and the excessive consumerist approach should be avoided.
Rizwana made these remarks while virtually addressing the "Environment and Innovation Summit and Awards 2024," organised by Mission Green Bangladesh and JCI Dhaka Metro at Dhaka University's TSC Auditorium here this evening.
The adviser further said the environment is "an integral part of our lives, as essential as the air we breathe".
She urged young people to work on eco-friendly designs and energy-efficient practices.
‘They should think about low-cost solutions for environmental improvement’, she added.
During the event, 10 individuals and organisations were awarded for their contributions to environment and climate-resilient innovations.
Environmental scientists, educators, researchers, and representatives from various organisations were present at the function.
