DHAKA, Dec 29, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said BNP has never compromised on the issue of democracy and never stepped away from the promises it made to the people.

Rizvi said from the proclamation of independence by the then Major and later President of Bangladesh Shaheed Ziaur Rahman in 1971, to the formation of political parties, state governance, return to the parliamentary system of government and until August 5, 2024, BNP has never bowed its head on the issue of democracy.

The BNP leader said one of the country's Islamic political parties wants to forgive deposed autocrat Sheikh Hasina in the name of improving relations with neighboring India

“Not only neighboring country but also an Islamic party, which opposed the country’s 1971 Liberation War is trying to fish in troubled waters,” he said.
