Probe body to submit primary report on Secretariat fire to CA tomorrow

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2024 (BSS) - A high-powered committee formed to probe the Secretariat fire incident has revised the schedule for its report submission, saying it will submit its initial report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus tomorrow.

"The investigation committee formed to probe the fire incident at the Bangladesh Secretariat revised the schedule for the submission of its report," said a statement issued by the chief adviser's press wing this evening.

 The committee will now submit its preliminary report to the Chief Adviser at 5pm on Tuesday, it reads.

The committee was scheduled to submit its report on the Secretariat fire to the chief adviser today.

On December 26, 2024, the government formed the eight-member probe body to investigate into the Secretariat fire and asked it to submit its primary report within three days.

The senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs was made the chief of the probe body.

Other members of the committee are: the secretary of the Housing and Public Works Ministry, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), chief of fire service defense (member secretary), explosive expert from armed forces, and three experts (civil, chemical and electronic engineers) Dr Tanvir Mansur, Dr Yasir Arafat and Yasir Arafat from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
