Tk 48 crore distributed from July Shaheed Smriti Foundation

DHAKA, Dec 31, 2024 (BSS -July Shaheed Smriti Foundation has so far distributed Taka nearly 47.98 crore among the families of those killed and injured during the student-people uprising.

A total of 2,228 families of the victims, including 648 martyrs’ families and 1,580 injured people received financial assistance from the foundation.

Talking to BSS, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said around Taka 32.04 crore has been distributed among the families of 648 martyrs while over Taka 15.58 crore to 1,580 injured people of the July uprising.

Noting that the assistance has been given initially, he said the government is committed to staying always beside the families of the victims in the student-people uprising.

“We are committed to staying beside them. We always want to remember their sacrifice to free the country from autocracy,” Alam added.

Initially, he said, financial assistance of Taka five lakh is being given to each martyr's family and Taka one lakh to each injured.

Distribution of the assistance began on November 2 to support the victims’ families.
In September 17 last, the "July Shaheed Smriti Foundation" was formally launched with Taka 100 crore in donations received from the Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare Fund.
