Baby Amina was murdered over extramarital affairs, mother arrested

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2025 (BSS) – Police on Friday night arrested two people involved in the murder of six-month-old baby Amina, the victim of extramarital affairs, in the capital city’s Pallabi area.

The arrested were identified as the child's mother, Fatema Begum (25), and her lover Md. Zafar (36).

Pallabi Thana Police based on secret information, conducted a raid in the Pallabi area on Friday) and arrested child’s mother Fatema Begum.

Following extensive interrogation of Fatema, the police confirmed that the child was murdered due to an extramarital affair between the child's mother, Fatema Begum, and a man named Md. Zafar, said a police press release.

Pallabi police also arrested Zafar from the Palabi Thana area following information extracted from Fatema on Friday night.

 The body of a child was found wrapped in cloth in a bag from the lakeside adjacent to Pillar No. 124 of the Diabari Metrorail following her killing on December 5 last, police said.

In the post-mortem report of the unidentified child, the police found suspicious injury marks on his neck.

The police filed a regular murder case against unknown persons at Pallabi Police Station as a complainant to this end.

One stage of the investigation of the case, the identity of the deceased child was identified. The police confirmed that the child's name was Amina and she was 6 months old.

During the initial interrogation, police have become confirmed that both the arrested were married and lived in the Pallabi area. Zafar works in a garment factory. The child's mother, Fatema, had a love affair with Zafar because she had previously worked in that factory.

The duo killed the child by strangling her with a pillow and a rope around his neck. Later, the child's body was wrapped in a bed sheet and put in a cloth shopping bag.

Then, Zafar took the body in the shopping bag and dumped it near a pillar of the metro rail. Fatema, who was arrested in connection with this murder, has given a confessional statement before the court.

Arrested Zafar is now being interrogated by the police after taking him on a six-day remand.
