RANGPUR, Jan 13, 2025 (BSS) - Officials in a discussion today emphasized on popularizing science and information communication technology (ICT)-based education among young students to accelerate the pace of national development.
They opined this at the discussion arranged in the inaugural function of a two-day upazila level Science and Technology Week and Science Fair-2025 on Kawnia Girls' High School premises in Kawnia upazila here.
The Kawnia upazila administration is organising the fair under supervision of National Science and Technology Museum and patronization of the Science and Technology Ministry marking the 46th National Science and Technology Week and Science Fair.
Students of different secondary level educational institutions from all over Kawnia upazila have set up their respective stalls projecting diverse scientific projects, research activities and innovations and ICT-based technologies.
Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mahidul Haque inaugurated the fair and addressed the discussion as the chief guest.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abu Sayeed Md Arif Mahfuz presided over the event.
Kawnia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Lokman Hossain, Agriculture Officer Most Tania Akhter, Upazila Engineer Asaduzzaman Jemi and Kawnia Reporters' Club General Secretary Md Saidul Islam addressed the discussion.
Officials from upazila level different government departments of the upazila, teachers and students from various educational institutions were present.
After the discussion, the chief guest with other officials visited different stalls of the fair and participated in a colorful rally that paraded various roads of the upazila town.
Later, various sports events, including rural traditional stick games and football matches, were organized at Kawnia Mofazzal Hossain Model Government High School grounds in the upazila town.
