KHULNA, Jan 14, 2025 (BSS) - Special Assistant to the Adviser on the Ministry of Education Prof. Aminul Islam today laid emphasis on strengthening research activities in the universities aimed at improving living standard of people of the country.
“Universities should play an effective role to improve living standard of people through strengthening research activities... all research must be welfare-oriented,” he said while exchanging views with administration and teachers of Khulna University (KU) here today.
Prof. Aminul Islam said, “There is no way but to select and conduct research that will be impactful for the public in general as they expect more from the researchers to improve their living and livelihood conditions.”
With KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rezaul Karim in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Harunor Rashid Khan, Treasurer Prof Nurunnabi, International Affairs Director Prof Ashique-Ur-Rahman and Registrar Prof Mahbubur Rahman.
The special assistant said there is an urgent need to conduct research related to human welfare and realistic so that findings of the research can play a pioneering role towards improving the living condition of the marginalized people.
"If we can transform the previous small research into big ones it will be impactful for the society," he said while putting emphasis on selecting the research projects keeping in mind the hopes and aspirations of the mass-people.
He said if the research provides benefits to the marginalized people it will be meaningful. There will be no problem of fund allocation in favour of the research project, he added.
Prof Aminul, however, said the KU has already shown success in the field of agricultural production in the saline lands on the coastal areas.
Later, the special assistant joined another view-sharing meeting with teachers of BL College at its campus this afternoon.
