DHAKA, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today sought strong support from all specially the journalists to make a crime-free society.

“Strong cooperation of journalists is needed to maintain law and order and build a crime-free society. It is difficult for the police alone to maintain law and order without the cooperation of everyone, including journalists. Police and journalists complement each other,” he said.

He made the remarks at a view-exchange meeting with the newly elected delegation of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) at the conference room of the DMP Headquarters here.

Congratulating the newly elected office bearers of CRAB, Sazzat called upon them to verify the authenticity before publishing any news.

“Journalists must spread the truth. DMP has no objection to spreading the truth,” he said.

The DMP Commissioner called upon all to behave responsibly instead of taking to the streets and occupying highways as a means of realizing their demands quick which create nagging trafficking jam.

“Traffic congestion is already a big problem in Dhaka metropolis. If one road is blocked, all other roads in the city are blocked. Therefore, in order to realize the demands, we have to get out of the practice of blocking the highways. Everyone has to behave responsibly,” he said.

The DMP chief requested the journalist community to play an important role in shaping public opinion against such a tendency.

Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of the DMP SN Md Nazrul Islam, CRAB President Mirza Mehdi Tamal and General Secretary MM Badshah, spoke on the occasion.
