DHAKA, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Navy's annual sea exercise ‘Exercise Safe Guard-2024’ began today, according to a press release of the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) this afternoon.
Like previous year, the exercise will be conducted to protect sovereignty and economic interests of the maritime borders of Bangladesh through coordination with the relevant maritime organizations during crisis period.
The exercise will be conducted in three phases aimed at increasing professional capacity of the naval forces. Various strategic exercises of the naval fleet, monitoring in the maritime borders, rescue and search campaign, logistics and landing operations, defense exercise of naval installations located in coastal areas are included in the exercise.
On the concluding day, the exercise will be conducted with launching ship to ship and anti-aircraft missiles, anti-aircraft shelling, launch of anti-submarine rocket depth charges, VBSS, naval commando and various tactics of naval warfare.
A significant number of Bangladesh Navy ships including frigates, corvettes, OPVs, mine sweepers, patrol craft, missile boats, Bangladesh Navy's Elite Special Operations Force (SWADS) and Navy’s specialized maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters of the navy will directly take part in the exercise.
Besides, like every year, Bangladesh Army, Air Force and Coast Guard along with related maritime organizations will participate directly and indirectly in this exercise, the ISPR release added.
