ACC sues ex-state minister Zakir Hossain over corruption charges

DHAKA, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed a case against former State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain on charge of acquiring illegal wealth inconsistent with the known source of income.

ACC Director General (Prevention) Akhter Hossain told this at a media briefing at its Headquarters this afternoon.

According to the case docket, Zakir Hossain obtained assets of Taka 12 crore, 81 lakh, 14,389, which is inconsistent with the source of known income through illegal means.

Besides, holding a responsible position in the government, Zakir kept these assets in his possession with the intention of concealing the illegal sources of income.

He (Zakir) committed the crime of transferring and converting money or property obtained through unusual and suspicious transactions by depositing Taka 17 crore, 56 lakh, 19,277 and withdrawing Taka 12 crore, 89 lakh, 12,810 in his nine bank-accounts, he said.
