ACC conducts anti-scam drives across the country

DHAKA, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS)- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted raids in different places across the country on the allegations of corruption, irregularities and money embezzlement. 

ACC Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam said, based on a complaint, ACC Dinajpur district office conducted a raid against the allegations of money embezzlement at Dinajpur Roads and Highways Department yesterday. 

ACC collected the records related to a project mentioned in the complaint from the office and took statements from all concerned. 

Later, along with the engineers and representatives of concerned departments, the ACC team visited the stockyard and checked various materials procured for road markings, signal posts, traffic signs, furniture and other fixtures. 

ACC Naogaon office conducted a raid in an orphanage at Mahadebpur on the allegations of eating up government and private grants by making a fake list of orphans.

The team collected information locally about three institutions mentioned in the complaint namely-Autistic and Intellectually Handicapped School, Rabeya Noorani Hafezia and Model Ebtedayi Madrasa, and Rabeya Ishahak Private Shishu Sadan at Mahadevpur of Naogaon district. 

A team of ACC head office conducted drives in the city based on the complaints of taking toll from transports and harassment of passengers on various routes.

During the drive, the ACC team recorded opinions of the bus drivers, helpers and individuals. The team also collected information about the city corporation's parking charge in different areas of the city, subscriptions taken for development of mosques in different areas, amount taken for salary and allowances of the staffs of transport owners’ association. 

ACC’s Habiganj district office conducted a raid in Abdullah Ismail Hifzul Quran Madrasa and Orphanage in Nabiganj based on the allegations of misappropriation of money by making a fake list of orphans.

The team talked to the madrasa students, governing body and Upazila Social Service Officer, and collected all necessary documents related to the complaints. 

The ACC teams would submit detail report to the commission based on the information collected during the drives.
