Koko’s death anniversary observed seeking eternal peace

BOGURA, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS) - The 10th death anniversary of Arafat Rahman Koko, the younger son of Bangladesh Nationalists Party (BNP) founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, was observed across the city.

BNP and its associate bodies across the country organized various programmes to mark the day with due respect and through holding doa mahfils at its Nayapaltan central office seeking eternal peace for Koko’s departed soul.  

A doa mahfil was held on behalf of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman’s family after Asr prayers at Baitur Rahman Central Mosque in Bogura.

BNP chairperson’s adviser and former MP Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, district BNP president Rezaul Karim Badsha, acting general secretary of the district and former MP Mosharraf Hossain, assistant cooperative secretary of central BNP Nazmul Haque Sony, BNP national executive committee member Ali Azgor Talukder Hena, Joynul Abedin Chand, district BNP ex-convener Advocate Hamidul Haque Chowdhury, DAB leaders Dr Shah Md Shahajan Ali, Shahid Un Nabi Salam, KM Khairul Bashar, Sheikh Tahauddin Nahid, Maniruzzaman Moni and Ripon, district Jubo Dal leaders Khademul Islam Khadem, district Jubo Dal general secretary Abu Hasan and district Chhatra Dal president Habibur Rahman Rashid Sandhan were present.

Besides, Syed Aminul Haque Dewan Sajal, Saiduzzaman Shakil, Syed Abdul Gafur Dara, Al Amin Sarkar, Uzzal Hossain joined the doa mahfil on behalf of the family.

Pesh Imam of the mosque Maulana Abdullah conducted the doa mahfil and offered munajat.
In Faridpur, Koko Memorial Sangsad organized a memorial discussion at BNP district party office with its president Suman Khan in the chair.

District BNP convener Advocate Syed Modasser Ali Isa spoke as the chief guest. General Secretary of Koko Memorial Sangsad Abul Kalam Azad moderated the programme, while district Jubo Dal president Mohammad Razib Hossain also spoke.

A munajat was offered seeking peace of Koko’s departed soul.

Among others, Mohanagar BNP joint convener ATM Akter Tutul, Jasas convener Advocate Syed Rashedul Alam, joint convener Naimul Islam Naim, district BNP ex-member Md Shahin Haque, US expatriate Md Arif Miah, Ismail Hossain Mintoo and Hedayetullah Mitul were present.

In Sherpur, Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Society Sherpur district unit organized a discussion meeting and prayer mahfil at the district BNP office at Raghunath Bazar at 4pm today.

The meeting was presided over by its president Sultan Ahmed Maina and moderated by general secretary Abu Sayeed Ashish.

Joint general secretaries Jawad Hossain and Rahul Amin spoke at the discussion meeting.
Among others, former district BNP publicity secretary Saiful Islam Manik, senior vice president of Sramik Dal Faisal Khan Tota, joint secretary Rezaul Karim and leaders and workers of BNP and its affiliated organizations were present.

Maulana Anas, Pesh Imam of SR Mosque conducted a doa mahfil after the discussion meeting.
In Magura, Arafat Rahman Koko Sporting Club of the district brought a memorial procession, held a discussion meeting and a doa mahfil at Bhayna crossing of BNP party office.

The meeting was presided over by its president Syed Mahabub Ali Milton and moderated by general secretary Md Shariful Islam Bhuiyan.

Joint conveners of district BNP Alamgir Hossain and Ahsan Habib Kishor spoke at the discussion meeting.

Among others, senior joint conveners of district BNP Akter Hossain, Dhaka City South Jubo Dal member secretary SM Rabiul Islam Nayan, district Jubo Dal president Washikur Rahman Kollol, district Jubo Dal general secretary Firoz Ahmed, district Chhatra Dal ex-general secretary SM Abu Taher Sabuj, convener of sadar upazila sporting club Md Sujan Ali and member secretary Towhidul Islam Rydoy, local BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechhasebok Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders were present.

Later, special doa seeking eternal peace for Koko’s departed soul was offered. 
 
Earlier in the morning, Qur’an recitation was held and food was distributed among orphans in the district.
