DHAKA, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS) - Barrister Zaima Rahman, only daughter of Tarique Rahman, feels thrilled having grandmother Begum Khaleda Zia, also former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, at her London home.

Through it, the 79-year-old ailing former prime minister also gets opportunity to spend family time with her dear and near ones at homely atmosphere after a long time as she was subjected to deposed Awami League government's wrath, landing her in jail that led the BNP chairperson to be severally ill.

Her son Tarique Rahman has been in long exile since political changeover of one eleven. He along with his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and only daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman has been living in London since then.

Meanwhile in 2015, Begum Zia had to bear the grave shock losing her youngest son Arafat Rahman that brought her mental agony amidst political upheaval of the country.

Before being imprisoned, Khaleda Zia last time visited London and spent family time at her eldest son Tarique Rahman's London residence in July, 2017.

She was released from the jail and later acquitted in the graft cases following the popular uprising in July-August that overthrew the AL regime on August 5 last.

Six months after her release from the jail, she was taken to London for advanced treatment in early January and she received medical treatment at prestigious London Clinic for 17 days and got discharged from the hospital on Friday night.

Her son Tarique Rahman drove her to his residence from hospital as his wife Dr Zubaida was beside him and Begum Zia and her granddaughter Zaima were in behind seats in the car.

The incident brought an endless joy to her loving grandchild Zaima who is now a barrister tempting her to take to social media to share it with others with a photo with caption "Alhamdullah, we took my grandmother to our residence. Everyone pray for us".

The post was shared by a large number of her followers and the incident took the social media users back to 2001 general elections, when Begum Zia took her granddaughter Zaima Rahman with her to cast her vote and posed before camera with 'V' sign and told the media that her granddaughter brings good luck for her always and this time, it would happen so and finally she won the polls with massive margin and formed government for the last time.
