PANCHAGARH, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS) - Sarjis Alam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, today said deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her cohorts are making evil efforts to confuse and divide the people by spreading rumors.

"They are spreading propaganda from various rumor cells with smuggled money. These rumors only give entertainment as the people of the country are conscientious," he told media personnel this afternoon after Skill Development Youth Summit programme of the month-long Tarunya Utsav at the Rahman Government College ground in Panchagarh.

Sarjis said the people of Bangladesh are conscientious enough and they do not pay any heed to rumors spread by AL.

"We are working from our place keeping the dreams and spirit of the people in mind. We think that if we pay attention to these rumors, we will only waste our time," he said.

Local Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sabet Ali, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman Munshi, and Makhlesar Rahman Munna of Sapno Puran Organization spoke at the Skill Development Youth Summit event. Students from various educational institutions were present.

Sarjis inaugurated the Skill Development Youth Summit by releasing balloons after giving various instructions to the students.

Sarjis Alam said girls were at the forefront of the mass uprising to build a new Bangladesh. Girls will also be at the forefront in building the Bangladesh of the future, and no matter what girls and boys say, at the end of the day, what is important is doing their own work from their own place, he said.

"Therefore, we have to work with the youth along with everyone to build the Bangladesh of the future," he said.

Earlier in the morning, Senior Secretary of Home Affairs Ministry Nasimul Ghani and Chief Organizer of Jatiya Nagorik Committee Sarjis Alam inaugurated the beautification work of Panchagarh Railway Station.

Sarjis said there is no need for a separate government for a neutral election. "With the help of Dr. Yunus, we will be able to see transparent elections in Bangladesh," he added.

He said the interim government has been acting responsibly so far - the opinions of all political parties are being taken for every national decision.

"Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus always thinks of national unity, keeping the interests of the country in mind. We think that the door to democracy will open anew with his help," he said.

On the issue of the 1/11, Sarjis said, the 1/11 was not an automatic event as in the context of various happenings, a group took the opportunity to force it to happen at a point.

"We think that naturally there will be arguments on any issue in the political arena. This is the beauty of democracy. The people in the interim government and the current politics - there will be differences in their opinions, there will be diversity, and they will unite on logical issues - this is the biggest thing. But let us not give a new opportunity to the fascists. They will want to create cracks in this unity. We will indulge in division, and they will take this opportunity to gain their interests."

Advocate Adam Sufi, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Panchagarh District Judge's Court, former Mayor Touhidul Islam, convener of the municipal BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Nazim Uddin, and Panchagarh coordinator Fazle Rabbi were present.
