RANGPUR, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) - The weather marked little improvement following rise in day temperatures with the appearance of the sun in the northern region since this morning bringing some relief and easiness to common people.

The situation started to normalize since this morning, when the sun emerged and the thin cover of fog and clouds cleared, and bright sunshine arrived in most parts of the sub-Himalayan region from 10 am.
The vehicular movements on roads and highways and activities in the farmlands, educational institutions, business centres, hats and bazaars, river ports and ferry ghats, bus stands and terminals and rail stations gained momentum since the morning today.

"The lowest temperatures may continue to fluctuate and maximum temperatures may remain mostly unchanged in the coming days till this month-end in the region," Head of the Rangpur Meteorological Office Md Mostafizar Rahman told BSS tonight.
However, the sun may appear in the sky at most places amid partially foggy and cloudy weather in the coming days with a possibility of improvement of the weather from the beginning of the next month.
Following improvement of the situation since this morning, common people, and farm- and day- laborers started their normal activities everywhere, including remote char areas in the river basins, and Boro plantation got momentum today in the region.
The district administrations, NGOs, voluntary, socio-cultural organisations, businessmen, community leaders, different banks and affluent people have been continuing distribution of warm clothes among the cold-hit distressed people.
Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension for Rangpur region Md Obaidur Rahman Mondal told BSS this evening that no damage of growing crop plants like mustard, wheat, potato, Boro rice seedlings has been reported so far.
"Rather, the partially foggy and cloudy weather in recent days helped better growth of all winter crop plants in the region where transplantation of Boro rice seedlings is gaining momentum," he added.
