Dhaka, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) - ACT-Bangladesh, the country's first theatre organization dedicated to climate awareness, has been launched aimed at using theatre as a platform to raise awareness about climate change.
The launching ceremony was held at the rooftop of Tagore University of Creative Arts, Uttara on Saturday. Vice-Chancellor of Tagore University of Creative Arts Professor Dr. Syed Mohammad Shahed was present as the chief guest.
A theatrical performance titled 'Drought in the Fate of Farmers' and a discussion titled 'Echoes of Earth' focused on climate action and advocacy was held at the inaugural session.
Chair of the UK-based Lancashire Arts Network for Developing Sustainability (LANDS) Esther Ferry-Kennington, Co-artistic Director of Ergon Theatre Company Robin Lyons, Chairman of the Department of Theatre at Tagore University Dr. Sydur Rahman Lipon and Dr. Shahman Moishan were also present on the occasion.
ACT-Bangladesh collaborates with global and local partners, including LANDS, Ergon Theatre, Health Security Foundation, and Bytequill, with support from its institutional partner, Tagore University of Creative Arts.
The speakers at the event praised its innovative approach, combining performance art with advocacy for a sustainable future.
