RANGPUR, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS) - A five-member medical board has been formed to review the medical issues of students of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) injured in the July-August revolution to ensure proper treatment.
Confirming the matter Tuesday night, BRUR Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali told BSS that the Rangpur Medical College authorities formed the board on January 23 last.
The medical board has been formed with Dr Mokhlesur Rahman, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine of Rangpur Medical College, as the convener.
The other members of the medical board are Dr Md Tofail Hossain Bhuyan, Professor and Head of the Neurosurgery Department of Rangpur Medical College, Dr Md Ashfaqur Rahman, Associate Professor of the Orthopedic Surgery Department, Dr Md Abdul Hadi, Associate Professor of the Surgery Department, and Dr Md Atiquzzaman, Assistant Professor of the Ophthalmology Department.
The members of the medical board will provide informed opinions and treatment to the students injured during the anti-discrimination student movement.
The Vice-Chancellor said, "Students played the biggest role in the July-August Revolution. We are determined to ensure the treatment of the students injured in that July Revolution”.
“Students are the most important stakeholders. And therefore, we have formed the board consisting of doctors from Rangpur Medical College to ensure the treatment of the injured students,” he said.
He said, “We have received a list of 39 students injured in the July-August movement at our university. This committee is working to provide treatment and counseling to the injured students.”
