CUMILLA (SOUTH), Oct 23, 2021 (BSS) - Agitators today gheraoed the residence of late Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed, one of the assassinators of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, demanding confiscation of his assets and removal of his grave from here.

  Several hundred demonstrators, belonging to the leaders and activists of upazila unit of ruling Bangladesh Awami League, Bangladesh Awami Juba League, Swechchhasebak League, Sramik League, Bangladesh Chhatra League and some other like-minded organizations staged a protest and gheraoed Mushtaq 's house at Dashpara village of Daudkandi upazila here this afternoon.

  They also brought out a procession and held a rally for immediate removal of Mushtaq's grave and confiscation of his assets for the sake of their (local people's) dignity.

  "We are not getting Cumilla as a division due to Khandaker Mushtaq, a notorious murderer," Daudkandi Upazila Parishad Chairman Mohammad Ali Sumon told the gathering.

  He urged the government to evict and confiscate all movable and immovable assets and Mushtaq's house.

  Cumilla (North) District Sramik League President Rakib Uddin, Upazila Vice Chairman and Upazila Chhatra League President Tariqul Islam and Upazila Mahila Awami League General Secretary Laila Hasan, among others, spoke there.
