CUMILLA, Jan 29, 2025 (BSS) - Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen has said nurturing the injustice at different level of the society is the root cause of all injustices in the country that finally led to all public demonstrations including the recent student-people uprising in August last year.
“Corruption is the root cause of every injustice, despite we have earnest desire to establish a society based on justice,” he said.
The ACC chairman was speaking as the chief guest at the ACC’s first public hearing in Cumilla held at local Shilpakala Academy today.
Dr Momen said, all corruptions should go off to have a society based on justice. If it is not possible, at least we must hold back its reign.
Mentioning the propensity of bureaucracy to hang up anything without taking a decision, the ACC chairman said “the more we can delay something, the more we feel powerful. And misuse of power displays how powerful we are.”
“I believe that if we want to establish social system based on justice, we have to reduce the tendency of enforcing power. We must consider power as our responsibility,” he observed.
ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Mia Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Commissioner (Enquiry) Brig Gen (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid were present as the special guests.
Deputy Commissioner Md Amirul Kyser moderated the public hearing organized in the district for the first time to sensitize people against corruption.
