DHAKA, Jan 29, 2025 (BSS) - The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today withheld a stay order of the High Court division for appointing 3,173 junior instructors and physical education instructors at different polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges under Technical and Madrasha Educal Boards.
The four-member appellate division of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed passed the order following a petition moved by the state against the High Court's stay order.
The appellate division also instructed the concerned authorities to submit the police report within three weeks and asked the HC to hear and dispose of the rule over this issue within six weeks.
The appellate division's decision has cleared the way for 3,173 candidates to join as junior instructors (tech) or physical education instructors (9th & 10th grade) in various polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges, said the lawyers of both the sides.
The High Court on January 27 halted the recruitment of the 3,534 candidates under the Technical Education Board for three months on the ground of irregularities in the process.
The HC came up with the order following a writ petition filed by 18 deprived candidates.
Barrister Kaisar Kamal and Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal moved for the petitioners while Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman and Additional Attorney General Anik R Haque moved for the state.
An advertisement for the recruitment of 3,534 Junior Instructors and Physical Education Instructors under 9th and 10th grade (non-cadre) was published on October 26, 2021 by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Later, written test for those posts was held on March 18, 2023 and the PSC on January 23 this year ordered to join 3,173 qualified candidates on January 29.
But among the deprived candidates, 18 filed a writ with the High Court challenging the recruitment.
