RANGPUR, Jan 30, 2025 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali said here today that steps would be taken to ensure proper treatment of the university’s students injured in the July-Aug uprising.
“We have tried from the very beginning to provide treatment to the injured. In view of this, a committee was formed by the university to ensure the list of students injured in the July mass uprising,” he said.
The committee identified 39 injured students with the aim of providing necessary medical services, he said and expressed gratitude to Rangpur Medical College authority for providing advice and necessary treatment to the injured students.
The Vice-Canceller said this after interviewing the injured students of BRUR before the five-member medical board formed at Rangpur Medical College Hospital today.
On the second day, the injured students of BRUR presented their various physical and health problems to the specialist doctors of Rangpur Medical College.
Rangpur Medical College Principal (Acting) Professor Dr Md Shariful Islam said, “We are blessed to be able to provide medical assistance and advice to the students injured in the July uprising.”
He said, Rangpur Medical College is ready to provide medical support to the injured students at any time in future.
Earlier, a five-member medical board was formed to ensure medical care for the students injured during the anti-discrimination student movement. The board met with 17 injured students on January 29 and provided necessary instructions regarding further treatment as needed.
Similarly, the rest of the injured students of BRUR presented their various physical and health problems to the medical board at Rangpur Medical College today.
At this time, Director of the Office of the Student Affairs Professor Dr Md Ileas Pramanik, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of BRUR Medical Center Dr AM Shahriar and other doctors and injured BRUR students were present.
