DHAKA, Jan 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD)
have taken extensive measures to provide fire safety and first aid at the
Biswa Ijtema ground, on the bank of river Turag at Tongi in Gazipur to
be held from tomorrow.
As part of the move, as many as 374 personnel of the force have been
deployed with required fire extinguishers at the Ijtema ground, said a
press release of the FSCD.
“Some 374 personnel of the force have been kept ready to provide fire
safety at the entire Ijtema Maidan. Among them, two firefighters with
fire extinguishers, fire hooks, and fire beaters will always be on duty in
each zone to deal with immediate fire accidents,” it said.
In addition, drone units have been deployed for round-the-clock
monitoring at the ground.
A temporary control room has been set up with a mobile number to
provide 24-hour service alongside installing two fire control rooms at
different locations to monitor fire safety at the Ijtema Maidan.
The mobile number 01901020865 and 02224410082 will be open 24 hours
to get fire services at the Ijtema Maidan.
Apart from these, four water tankers, three ambulances, 14 pumps, 220
fire extinguishers, 13 generators, 128 walkie-talkies, 150 delivery hoses,
and 14 branch pipes have been kept ready at different places in the
Maidan to provide fire safety.
A rescue speed boat and a four-person diving team have been kept ready
in the Turag River (under Kamarpara Bridge) to prevent water accidents.
Six pumps have been installed on the banks of the Turag River and five
in various reservoirs to provide water for quick fire extinguishing.
Besides, Tongi, Uttara, and Joydevpur fire stations have been kept on
standby during the Ijtema.
