DHAKA, Jan 30, 2025 (BSS) - Biman Bangladesh Airlines has clarified that as
per its existing policy, the national flag carrier airline does not allow
unnamed or nameless group ticket bookings for any routes, including those for
migrant workers traveling to the Middle Eastern destinations.
“It should be noted that under Biman's current ticket booking and reservation
system, tickets cannot be booked or sold without providing detailed passenger
information, including name, passport details, and contact information such as
mobile number and email,” said a Biman’s press release here.
Biman issued the release to clarify its position as the Association of Travel
Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) on Sunday last held a press conference demanding a
reduction in air ticket prices and a ban on bulk ticket sales and stockpiling
without passenger names, passports, or visas.
“Following the press conference, some print media published reports with
headlines such as ‘ATAB demands an end to hoarding of Biman tickets’. This
matter has come to the attention of Biman Bangladesh Airlines,” read the
Biman’s press release.
After thoroughly reviewing the entire press conference, Biman Bangladesh
Airlines found that ATAB members did not refer to Biman Bangladesh Airlines or
its operations at the press conference, they mentioned "airlines" in general.
It is evident that replacing the term "airlines" with "Biman" in certain media
reports has caused confusion among the public and on social media regarding
Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
“The airline authority expects the media to be more cautious in their choice
of words, using "air tickets" or "airlines" instead of "Biman" in their
reports and public communications,” said the release.
