DHAKA, Feb 2, 2025 (BSS) - The belongings of martyrs of July uprising including Abu Sayed, Washim Akram, Mir Mugdho and Farhanul Islam, have been archived at the Dhaka University to display those things at the July-memorial Museum.
The family members of the martyrs handed over those belongings to Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan, vice chancellor of the Dhaka University Sunday.
The belongings include, shirts, pants, Panjabi, hand watch, favorite book of the martyr and their photos.
On the occasion Abu Sayed’s mother Monowara Begum and his brother, and Shaheed Wasim’s father Shafiul Alam, his sister Sabrina Yasmin, Farhan Fayyaz's father Alhaj Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, Mughda brother Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha were present.
DU pro vice chancellor (Academic) Prof. Mamun Ahmed, pro vice chancellor(Admin) Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, treasurer Prof. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and proctor Saifuddin Ahmed were present, among others.
Expressing hopes for building organizational relations with the martyrs’ family, DU vice chancellor Prof. Niaz Ahmed, said, By keeping the belongings of Martyrs at the July Memorial Museum at DU, the Dhaka University family has cemented a new relationship with the families of martyrs.
“We are trying to keep their loved ones in our programme. Besides, we are trying to provide financial support to the families who suffered most during the movement,” he said.
The university administration has formed a committee to identify the students who attacked the students in Dhaka University campus and bring them under legal procedures, the VC added.
