Graft cases report against ex-minister Nuruzzaman, family members April 30

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today set April 30 to file probe reports in three separate cases filed against former social welfare minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, his wife Hosne Ara Begum and son Md Rakibuzzaman for amassing huge illegal wealth.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, accepting first information reports (FIRs) of the case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission on February 3 filed the three cases under section 27 (1) of the Anti Corruption Commission Act, 2004, sections 4 (2) and 4 (3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012, section 5 (2) of The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and section 109 of the Penal Code.

In the case against Nuruzzaman, the ACC accused the former minister of amassing illegal wealth of Taka 5.31 crore and keeping those under his possession. He is also accused of making suspicious transactions of Taka 62 crore through 31 bank accounts.

The anti-graft body in its case against Hosne Ara Begum accused her of amassing illegal wealth of Taka 1.22 crore and making suspicious transactions of Taka 50.43 crore through 25 bank accounts.

It also accused Nuruzzaman's son Md Rakibuzzaman of amassing illegal wealth of Taka 2.06 crore and keeping those under his possession. He is also accused of making suspicious transactions of Taka 22.43 crore through 10 bank accounts.
