SYLHET, Feb 04, 2025(BSS)-Some 51 students will contest for a seat in the first year honours admission test for 2024-2025 session at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
The admission test for the students from science, humanities and commerce groups will begin at 10-30am under B unit on February 28 in five centres across the country while the test for the students of science group will be held at the same venues at 3 pm under A unit.
Prof Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, member secretary of the admission test committee for the session of 2024-2025, today informed the media about the test schedule.
A total of 86,380 admission seekers have applied from January 5 to January 31 against 1671 seats for the first year honours that means 51 students will contest for a single seat, Prof Rafiqul Islam said.
Among the applicants-a total of 57273 students applied for 955 seats for the science group under A-1unit and 1250 students have applied for only 30 seats for science and architecture department under A-2 unit.
On the other hand, a total of 29,107 students from science, humanities and commerce groups have applied for 581 seats under B unit. Besides, there are 105 reserved seats under various quotas. Of them-28 for freedom fighters quota, 28 for indigenous, harijon or dalits, 14 for disabled, 20 for wards, five for tea labourers’ child and 10 for sports quota.
Prof Rafiqul Islam said, excepting the SUST, admission tests will be held at Dhaka University, Rangpur Begum Rokeya University, Jashore Science and Technology University and Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University. There will be 80 numbers for multiple choice and rest 20 marks would be added from the obtained marks in the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate examinations, the Member Secretary added. The applicants can collect their admit cards from the university website prior four to five days of the exam date, he said adding that the results of the admission tests will be published in the website also.
