DHAKA, Feb 5, 2025 (BSS) – The Public Administration Reform Commission (PARC) in its report has recommended implementation of six targets in overall reform of the public administration will make it pro-people, accountable, efficient and neutral.
“Overall, the commission has considered six goals for public administration reform: people-oriented public administration, transparent and accountable administration, development of efficiency and capacity of public administration, impartial public administration, efficient administration in public service, and effective public administration,” said the PARC report.
The commission's chairman Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, along with its members, handed over the report to Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus today at the State Guest House Jamuna.
The government formed the PARC on October 3 last for bringing reform to the administration aimed at achieving four targets that include make the administration pro-people, accountable, efficient and neutral.
The Commission extended the four targets to six to make the administration more effective.
The commission has identified the recommendations as short-term (six months), medium-term (one year) and long-term for the convenience of implementation.
Since the commencement of its work, the commission held 49 meetings and formulated the report and recommendations of the commission. The report of the commission has been arranged in a total of 17 chapters. More than 200 recommendations have been presented with 14 different headings.
The commission sent letter to 13 different political parties seeking advices from them to overhaul the administration. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Amra Bangladesh Part and National People’s Party submitted their suggestions in written.
To prepare the report, the members of the commission exchanged views with the grassroots people and field level public officers after visiting eight districts and five upazilas across the country.
