Reform commission recommends financial independence of judiciary 

DHAKA, Feb 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Judicial Reform Commission has recommended for ensuring the financial independence of the judiciary.

The commission headed by its chief former justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman handed over its 28 point recommendations to the Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday. 

The commission in its number 10 recommendations elaborated the separation of the judiciary and its financial independence.

The commission recommends that there will be a committee comprised of the officials from the executives that will prepare the budget for the judiciary. This committee can expense the budget independently and would be able to revise and re-revise the budget. It can prepare the development budget for the judiciary and also can enhance it.

The reform commission also recommended forming a commission head by the Chief Justice of the country for fixation of the allowances and special allocations of the Judges of the Supreme Court. The commission will make a permanent Judicial Service Pay Commission for the development of the judiciary.
