DHAKA, Feb 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has said future of Bangladesh will be uncertain without holding proper trial of the genocide committed during the July mass uprising.

He said at an urgent press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan this afternoon.

Rizvi said trial of this genocide is crucial to establish the rule of law and justice in the country.

The BNP leader observed that it’s not possible to establish justice by merely arresting the accused, keeping them in jail or sending them outside the country, as the ghosts of the dictator Sheikh Hasina are staying in the secretariat, police administration, and judiciary, and at different levels of the society.

“If strict action isn’t taken immediately against the collaborators of the fascists, it will be difficult to defeat Hasina's allies,” he opined.

The collaborators the fallen dictator Sheikh Hasina are now occupying various important positions in the administration, he said, adding, without identifying those who couldn’t wholeheartedly accept the changes of August 5 it will be difficult for the interim government to succeed.

Rizvi said BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that all the steps of the interim government may not be considered as the success of everyone, but the failure of this government will be considered as a failure of all pro-democracy forces.

For this reason, BNP wants to see the interim government successful, he said.

He, however, said that it is also a matter of thinking whether the government wants to see itself successful.

BNP senior joint secretary general said the government should take steps as priority basis to alleviate the everyday suffering of the people by excluding less important issues from their “roadmap of action”.

He said Sheikh Hasina is trying to make the country unstable through releasing conspiratorial audio messages.

At the instigation of Sheikh Hasina, the leaders and activists of Awami League are carrying out clandestine attacks, sudden processions and mass mobilizations across the country.

He went on, saying bloodthirsty Awami miscreants launched a hellish attack on students and the public in Gazipur chanting “Joy Bangla” slogan.

Rizvi said that Jahangir, the former mayor of Gazipur held a virtual meeting with the fascists where he said that “We will not let anyone sleep in a city where we can’t move around during the day.”

He termed that Jahangir is one of the master planners of the Awami League's new project but the government can’t arrest such a dangerous terrorist yet which is their failure.

The BNP leader mentioned that fugitive former IGP Benazir Ahmed, one of the key figures of corruption mafia, held a conspiratorial meeting with the followers of the fascist government in a virtual conference and said 90 percent of the police and administration are supporters of the Awami League and are in constant contact with them.

Even after the news of Benazir Ahmed's secret conspiratorial activities against the state came to light, the administration is silent, he observed.

Rizvi said in the meantime, at the directives of Hasina, police members were attacked in Tungipara and Gopalganj.

Abdul Wahab, president of Sujanagar Upazila Awami League in Pabna, has been snatched from a police vehicle, he added.

He said Awami League terrorists are carrying out terrorism across the country. But the interim government, since assuming power on August 8, has been failed to strictly handle the situation.

BNP would hold rally and processions in districts and metropolitan cities across the country from February 11 until beginning of Ramadan.

BNP has announced the program demanding bringing down the price of essentials, improving the law and order and declaring election roadmap immediately.

BNP Chairperson's Adviser Abdus Salam, assistant Office Secretary Taiful Islam Tipu and others were present at the press conference.
